Console table as TV Stand. Console tables are naturally narrow, enabling them to take up far less floor space than a traditional TV stand or media center. Look for a sturdy console table that will hold the weight of your TV and make sure it is wide enough to accommodate the cable box, DVD player, or stereo. Tip: Since most console tables do not have as much storage as media centers, storage boxes are perfect for keeping DVDs and CDs close by but out of sight.
A console table has an advantage over a sideboard, buffet or credenza as it occupies less space and its open base design makes it appear visually lighter. Most models are commonly rectangular, however there are some that a referred to as Half Moon or Demilune which is like an elongated semi-circle or an oval cut in half.
A console can be flanked with an item each side of it such a set of beautiful matching occasional chairs (it’s a great way to store additional seating) or add a couple of tall plants either side in a funky pot such a Fiddle Leaf.
A glass console table is ideal for placement in a smaller space as the transparency of the glass really helps to create the illusion of more room. Glass is visually very light, making it something to really consider if you’ve already got a lot of colour and design going on in your space.
