A console can be flanked with an item each side of it such a set of beautiful matching occasional chairs (it’s a great way to store additional seating) or add a couple of tall plants either side in a funky pot such a Fiddle Leaf.
Any size or style of console will do, from a glamorous metallic model to a rustic weathered-wood design. For this example, we chose a streamlined black-and-gold console inset with glass. One consideration: A lower shelf means double the styling potential, so consider how many pieces you want to display when choosing your table.
A console is also the perfect solution for filling empty nooks and spaces. For example, in front of a staircase wall. A console table can be used as a serving bar for entertaining. It makes a great bar cart for displaying and serving drinks or laying out food dishes.
TOP TIP: Console tables have a lot less storage compared to sideboards due to the slim nature of their design. If storage is a must but you don’t have room for a storage unit, you can always store items in the open space underneath, either stacked or tidied away in stylish boxes.
